About me

I grew up in a small town in south Mississippi called Bay Springs.  Born in 1981, Growing up in the 80's and 90's meant many daily trips to my grandparents’ houses and constantly being outside playing with neighbors.  Not only that but pop culture during that time was simply the best.  After graduating from Stringer High School in 99, I was fortunate enough to attend Samford University in Birmingham, Al.  Upon completion of college I moved back to my home state and have lived in Laurel, MS since 2004.

It was only a few years ago when I decided to begin authoring Children's

books.  It's worth it to see a child listen and laugh at my stories ( I also get a kick out of the parents laughing, too).

I simply love taking common, ordinary things around me and making them extraordinary.  Speaking of extraordinary, I have my wife Julie, two sons Grayson and Conrad and our baby girl Jovie.

If I've learned anything through writing it's been this:  The best rule to follow in writing a children's book is that there are no rules.  So if I think a sock should speak, then it has every right to do so. :)

Frequently asked ?’s

Sometimes I’ll start a sentence and I don’t even know where it’s going. I just hope I find it along the way.
— – Michael Scott, The Office

WHEN DID YOU START TO WRITE?

In my mid 30s.  My best friend and I were hanging out and talking about hopes, dreams and things we were passionate about.  I combined the heart I have for kids, my love of humor and the inspiration I find daily to make the decision.  After that it made sense to write children’s books.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO WRITE A BOOK?

It depends really, some days an idea hits me, and I jot something down on a piece of paper or put a note in my phone.  Once I have the basis for the idea, it’s a matter of sitting down and just talking it out (Literally) as I type.

WHERE DO YOUR IDEAS COME FROM?

My ideas come from everyday events and interactions that happen around me.  I’m constantly taking something my kids have done or said and saying, “There’s a children’s book here somewhere.”

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?

I am a very active person by nature, so CrossFit is something my wife and I do with a lot of our friends.  I enjoy sports and attending sporting venues.  I love all things superhero and collect comic books on a regular basis and have a self admitted addiction to bobblehead collecting.

HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME?

Spending time with my family is very important to me.  Traveling both domestic and abroad is a hobby my wife and I share as well.  Our current goal to visit every country in the world, because...why not!?  I also have a “Real Job” as a Sales Manager for a Technology Solutions Company.  My reps know I have one rule, when working for me - stay creative.
